Sanxingdui Ruins

The town of Sanxingdui, or Three Star Pile, became world famous because a large amount of cultural relics were found here. Archeological studies show that the site was the capital of the ancient Shu State, and one of the five major trading centres in ancient China. The articles unearthed are mostly 7,000 years old and have thus proven that the Shu civilization had started 2,000 years earlier than it was formerly assumed. Among the highly valued cultural relics are huge bronze works, which reflect the rich imagination and skilful workmanship of the ancient Shu people. One in-credible piece is a statue of a human figure taller than a man.
